To manually update your EmuELEC installation:

NOTE: Keep in mind you need at least 2GB of free space on your SD to properly update.

• Check the releases page in https://github.com/EmuELEC/EmuELEC/releases
• Download and copy the corresponding .tar file as is (do not uncompress it) to the update samba share (using Samba/network shares //EMUELEC/Update or by sftp/winscp /storage/.update).
• Press "Start" to open the main ES menu.
• Navigate to "EmuELEC settings" -> "Danger Zone" -> "RESET EMUELEC SCRIPTS AND BINARIES TO DEFAULT"
• The device will reboot, wait for the update to finish.

Alternate method 1: Force Update

• In your device go into Updates & Downloads set update type to Stable or Beta depending on what you want
• Open "EmuELEC Settings" > "Danger Zone" select "Force Update"
• Follow the instructions

Alternate method 2: directly to SD

• Check the releases page in https://github.com/EmuELEC/EmuELEC/releases
• Remove the SD card from your device and insert it to a computer.
• Download and copy the corresponding .tar file as is (do not uncompress it) to the EEROMS partition in the .update folder
• Make sure you safe eject your card from your computer!
• Remove it from your computer and insert it in your device, power it on and wait for the update to finish.

Remember to use the proper file for your device:

• EmuELEC-Amlogic.aarch64-x.x.x.tar is for S905 and variants
• EmuELEC-Amlogic-ng.aarch64-x.x.x.tar is for S905x2,S922x/A311D and variants
• EmuELEC-OdroidGoAdvance.aarch64-x.x.x.tar is for the Odroid Go Advance only
